Inhoud:
In het eerste halfuur van het seminar vertelt Sogyo’er Jan Maarten Verbree over zijn huidige opdracht bij Van Brug Automatisering. Van Brug is een leverancier van notariële software, meer info op www.vanbrug.nl. Jan Maarten zal ingaan op de inhoud van het project wat hij en een aantal andere Sogyo’ers bij Van Brug uitvoert. Daarnaast vertelt hij ook meer over de sfeer , wat hij zoal meemaakt en hoe de samenwerking met het bedrijf en de andere Sogyo’ers is. Kortom weer een leuke nieuwe ervaring van de werkvloer.
In het tweede deel van het seminar zal prof. dr. Paul Klint zijn ideeën en standpunten met je delen. In zijn presentatie ‘From Software Renovation to Domain-Specific Languages and back’ geeft hij een introductie in Meta-Level programmeren in een Meta-omgeving:
Software development paradigms come and go. From functions to objects, from objects to services and from DSDM to agile development. All these paradigms leave their traces in the delivered software, since today’s paradigm is tomorrow’s legacy. It is therefore good to step back and to reflect on methodologies that help in understanding and improving software.
The Meta-Environment (www.meta-environment.org) is the result of a long term research project that investigates tools and techniques for software analysis and transformation. Its main use cases are software renovation and the design and implementation of domain-specific languages. These cases have in common that meta-level programming is needed: programs themselves have to be analysed and manipulated as data.
In this presentation I will give an overview of the Meta-Environment itself, of the underlying technologies and of its applications. The presentation concludes with a sketch of future research directions.
Meer over Paul Klint
Paul Klint is head of the software engineering department at Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica and professor in computer science at the University of Amsterdam where he directs the master program on Software Engineering. He is also visiting professor at University of London (Royal Holloway), founding president and now treasurer of the European Association for Programming Languages and Systems (EAPLS), former chair of the Dutch national advisory boards on Computer Science and co-founder of the Software Improvement Group (SIG), a CWI spinoff company.
He holds a MSc in Mathematics from the University of Amsterdam (1973) and a PhD
in Computer Science from the Technical University Eindhoven (1982). He (co)authored three books and has published over hundred scientific articles. He was advisor of 30 dissertations and over 120 master’s theses. He has consulted for companies and governments worldwide. His research interests include generic language technology, domain-specific languages, software renovation, and technology transfer.
